Politics and Moral Issues

You know what confuses me, so many "liberals" in the church are liberals simply because they think people should help the less fortunate and do so by supporting their position with the scriptures. While helping the poor is one of our most important duties, for some reason they think that socialism is the only way to do it. Because of this single point, so many seem to cling onto an ideology that is, on nearly every other aspect, almost completely contrary to the rest of their moral stances. I cannot for the life of me understand how they think taking from others is the way to help the poor, with their emphasis on NOT JUDGING OTHERS, regardless of their circumstance, actions, and choices, do they not see when they say the rich haven't paid their fair share that they are making a HUGE judgement in order to try to justify taking other peoples things? I think a lot of it boils down to two things. 1. Lies and Secret Combinations -- Growing up I was taught that basically all republicans and conservatives were greedy dirty hypocrites. This came from nearly every source of learning I had access too. TV, Radio, Movies, School, and even family. Not all of them even knew they were not being truthful, because they were to the best of their knowledge. The problem is that the lies come from so many angles that it seems impossible that this many people could be wrong. This is a Secret Combination. There are those who know full well what they teach is false, but they do so to justify the conclusion they came to previous to the facts. 2. Ignorance -- As mentioned before, many do not know they are perpetuating lies and propaganda. If someone makes what sounds like a good argument, the next person just goes with it, without ever thinking about it. Take the argument that Homosexual couples should be allowed to adopt because it is better for a baby to be raised with a loving gay family, than to be thrown into the "System" and raised by the government. On the surface this seems like a very valid argument, until you take a minute to think about it. THERE IS NO SURPLUS OF BABIES GOING INTO THE SYSTEM My sister has adopted all of her children. By no means is this an easy process. Hundreds if not thousands of eager, married, straight, willing-to-be parents are waiting to adopt children. Some stay on the list for years and years without being 'chosen' to get a baby. The very idea that there are tons of babies going into foster care and being raised by the government because gay people aren't allowed to adopt is completely a non-issue, yet for some reason, this is an argument used even by members of the church who are still on the fence between the world and the Lord. Gay Marriage is really the hot button issue at the moment. President Obama was forced into supporting it publicly for political reasons. Gay marriage is just one more step. Another step, Gay adoption is one of those so called 'rights' that will be fought about soon. Right now you hear about it a little, you see it in what seems to be an acceptable manner portrayed in shows like "Modern Family." Believe it or not, this is also one of those secret combinations I mentioned before. The devil knows that if he wraps up sin in pleasing packages and bows, if he takes the abhor ant, and inserts it into the norm, that soon he will have us bound. If he can get us to see how 'wonderful' the sin can be, or how accepting it can be, he can then bring it from the television into our real lives. This is why it is important for us to seek learning about the issues, to think about everything around us, and use our own brains, rather than talking points, to understand what the real issues are. Satan has his plan, and like any good chess player, has his next few moves planned in advance. Let us do the same, anticipate his next move, and put him in check before he gets to advance his agenda further.
